So we've not quite caught up to the Twitch "craze" yet and its rising prominence amongst the gaming community, but they've now partnered with Soundcloud - an off-shoot being their channel on the platform. Their Fast Track series features musicians creating beats in ninety minutes or so, and the latest edition showcases the skills of the recent Mercury Prize-nominated Georgia, somewhat channeling her 2019 smash hit 'About Work The Dancefloor'.
The live stream takes us behind the Georgia's production line, who opts for 120bpm for a "pulsating" feel, building the track up initially with strings and bass. It's an intriguing look at the layered thought process of an artist, and is similar to features by producer/remixer extraordinaire RAC and pop aficiando YouTuber RoomieOfficial. (Madeon's 'Pop Culture' live mash-up may also be of interest.)
Perhaps surprisingly, considering their differences in musical background, there are several elements shared with Roomie's video - the four-on-the-floor beat, a view to verse-chorus-bridge, the arpeggio, and Georgia's "always save!" mantra. With the London artist also mentioning that she tries to finish ideas when she starts them, fingers crossed that we get a full version of the track in future.
