London garage rock outfit On Video have impressed us since they appeared earlier in the year, with a string of thrilling new tracks, pooled together as the 'Clap Trap' EP. Possibly in celebration of his Glastonbury 2020 headline slot, the quartet have now brought us a cover of Paul McCartney's 'Temporary Secretary', an unexpectedly avant-garde number that we hadn't come across previously. Thanks chaps. Listen to both versions below.
We were enamoured from the start by On Video's meaty opening salvo, 'Ghee', later followed by the Le Tigre-infused 'Past Tense'. Their mesmerising cover of 'Temporary Secretary' retains the bite of those tracks and adds a flourish to the Paul McCartney electro-pop original, which appeared on The Beatles legend's second solo album, 1980's 'McCartney II'. Turns out he was quite good at this music lark, who knew?
