London singer-songwriter Eva Stone has embraced the whole "new year, new you" mantra, emerging with a new guise YVA. The first taste of her new self is unusually a cover, albeit a considerable departure from the James Bay original. Listen to YVA's 'Pink Lemonade' below.
In some ways, 2018's 'Pink Lemonade' was an appropriate cover choice for YVA, having signified James Bay's own re-invention - both in terms of his look and musical style. YVA's stripped down version wisely places her sumptuous voice front and centre - figuratively speaking, as we're sure the track's rising producer JMAC (Only Girl, Lucy Rose) and mastering veteran Pete Maher (U2, Katy Perry) would likely point out.
It's an intriguing new beginning for YVA and based on this new track, we wouldn't be entirely surprised to hear a sultry 'Bond' (or similar franchise) theme from her in future, a la Adele's 'Skyfall'. Lofty aims perhaps, but such is YVA's promise, that it's far from a Mission: Impossible.
