Adopting the mystery approach that rarely makes me feel comfortable, London outfit Child Of Cecilia have at least delivered an impressive opening statement in the form of their debut track, 'Daddy's Gun'. Melodramatic pop song done well. Listen below, ahead of their EP launch gig tonight (Friday 12th) at the Notting Hill Arts Club in London.
'Daddy's Gun' has a touch of Paloma Faith about it, particularly thanks to the powerful lead vocals and its retro style. There's an intriguing juxtaposition of feistiness and lounge music at its heart - other tracks on the EP (such as 'Something More' and 'Oblivion') carry a more relaxed, jazz-based sentiment.
