Simon FG's normally the one who tackles heavier (or is that heavy-set?) bands, but every now and then, one comes along that particularly takes my fancy. We featured London duo Tiny Giant back in our preview for Reading's excellent other festival Are You Listening? back in April, and with new recordings now online, they look set to take on 2016.
Comprising former Pure Reason Revolution member Chloe Alper and sound engineer Mat Collis, the London duo seem to be honing an impressively anthemic sound that has stadium rock aspirations. There's a touch of The Joy Formidable to Tiny Giant, especially in new track 'Seeing Everything As Though It Is Real', sharing the same ability to manage a quiet-and-loud dynamic - obligatory huge-sounding riffs are matched by intimate moments. The future of alt rock's in good hands.
