'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt'
I feel a bit behind talking about 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt', it premiered last month on Netflix however whenever I think about it the show I have the theme tune stuck in my head. I would even say it is arguable one of the best television theme tunes of 2015 so far. Starring Ellie Kemper as Kimmy Schmidt - a naïve woman who escapes from a doomsday cult and decides to adjust to a life in New York City.
Kimmy Schmidt throws herself straight into the New York lifestyle and brings her quirky and naïve twist into all her encounters. Thankfully she has a helping hand with hew new best friend Titus Andromedon (Titus Burgess) a wannabe Broadway diva. To make a living Kimmy gets a job as a nanny for Jacqueline Voorhees (Jane Krakowski), a demanding wealthy socialite who is extremely insecure of her marriage and general self. Finally there’s Kimmy’s landlord Lillian (Carol Kane) who is clearly paranoid and bonkers in a nutshell.
Personally for me the show is not as funny as I hoped for it to be - when I heard Tina Fey created 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt', her past work such as 'Mean Girls' and '30 Rock' were in my head. Although there are some funny parts its just not up to par with the Fey’s previous work.
I will admit the main reason I binge watched 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt' was so that I could sing the theme tune, even when it ended I found it on YouTube just so I could hear it on repeat. Netflix bought two series of 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt' so we shall be seeing a lot more of Kimmy Schmidt in 2016 and I will look forward to singing the theme tune all over.

'Lip Sync Battle'
You have been flicking around your television guide you may have noticed a new channel called Spike TV. One of Channel 5’s newest purchases along with MTV, Spike TV could be classed as a man’s man channel. One of Spike TV’s offerings is 'Lip Sync Battle' hosted by LL Cool J and model Chrissy Teigen. Each week two celebs battle out in the ultimate Lip Sync fight to see who can entertain the audience most with their lip syncing.
With such celebrities as Anne Hathaway, Jimmy Fallon, Emily Blunt, John Legend and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson this is a star-studded affair. There is a lot of banter between the two celebrities which is fun to see, you can tell they both want to win but are very much on the show to entertain and just let loose. I love the fact the celebrities sing songs that just do not suit them but somehow make it look good all at the same time. Watching The Rock singing Taylor Swift 'Shake It Off' was real joy.
This show is fun and will grab your attention but by about series three, I fear the show will start to stall and get boring. There is only so much you can see celebrities lip sync to songs and predict the type of songs they are going lip sync to. I guess it would depend on the celebrity power they can attach each series and the music to keep this show going.
I have a feeling that Spike TV has some hidden gems waiting for to unleash on the British public. With 'Breaking Bad' and 'Sons Of Anarchy' being aired from the start on Spike TV, there is a chance to join the hype over these two proper American dramas. 'Lip Sync Battle' and Spike TV welcome to the UK and hopefully you will provide us with great entertainment.
'Lip Sync Battle' is on Spike TV every Tuesday at 9.30pm.
