I was surprised to hear that West Ham United football club had recruited new company ICU Label to be their official record label - surprised yet further when it turns out that ICU's main act Harper is one of the most exciting pop talents to emerge of late. London-based solo artist Sam Harper dropped her debut EP late last year, teaming up with songwriting/production duo Eagle Eye, who have worked with likes of Conor Maynard and Little Mix.
Harper's material is certainly a lot different than the associated acts mentioned above - tinges of more nuanced, forward thinking pop artists such as Lorde and Marina & The Diamonds come to mind. Driven by her powerful vocals, the tracks are backed up with production that has a healthy orchestral element while also reflecting everything from dubstep to hip hop.
