I've had a bit of an up and down relationship with Londoner Years & Years, who streamlined both their line up and sound since I first heard them back in 2012. It's been a successful transformation for the band, led by sometime-actor Olly Alexander, who have been appearing on many a tips for 2015 list of late. New single 'King' debuted earlier tonight on BBC Radio 1, and we likey.
Forgoing much of the R&B influence that saw 'Real' emerge as one of the finest tracks of 2014, 'King' instead focusses on the upbeat electro elements. There's a definite whiff of Hot Chip's 'I Feel Better' but that's no bad thing, and we're getting our dance on early in 2015 with 'King'.
