One of my ambitions for 2015 was to listen to more albums. I wouldn't exactly say I'm going great guns on that one, having taken in Boxed In's self-titled debut and Iain Woods's long-awaited album. Titled 'Psychologist' after his former moniker, it's an intriguing effort that blends his earlier introspective material with more explosive tracks. Listen to one of my favourite tracks 'Forbidden' below.
'Forbidden' is one of the tracks that harks backs to Woods' initial offerings, such as the magical 'Comes In Waves'. It also sounds sufficiently like A Tribe Called Quest's 'Can I Kick It?' (or more accurately 'Walk On The Wild Side' by Lou Reed) to provide a warm sense of nostalgia, to add to the soothing strings and tender vocals.
