I've been in a bit of a new music funk over the last few days so the return of Northern upstarts Vinyl Jacket is a welcome one. Even though their new track 'Jupiter' is a miserly 96 seconds long. But it contains the same frenetic/kinetic nature that enamoured us with the band in the first place, and a good place to start for any newcomers.
It's been a good while since we last heard from Vinyl Jacket but 'Jupiter' shares the effervescent melodies and cascading guitars that characterised their earlier material. I'm not entirely sure that this new track is a sign of further recordings but it is a strong taster for their upcoming gig in Newcastle featuring the also-quite-good Suntrapp and Arbeia.
