I can't quite bring myself to write K H U S H I out as Kalim Patel intended his solo outfit to be named. Aside from that one time. Because typing l i k e t h i s is pretty annoying. Luckily, his debut single is anything but. 'Magpie' is a rousing hypnotic gem that doesn't look out of place beside its influences of Alt-J and Bon Iver.
We wrote about KHUSHI back in March, and considering the positive response before/during/after, I'm actually a bit surprised that his debut single has taken so long to be announced. But it's worth the wait - the sparkling 'Magpie' is arguably the strongest track of his back catalogue, given a new lick of paint compared to the earlier demo. Listen to both versions below.
