Changes are a-happening over in the We Are Augustines camp - firstly, they're now AUGUSTINES and secondly, they seem to have adopted a killer afro-pop influence judging by new single 'Cruel City'. It's the first taste to their forthcoming second album, due out in January 2014. Have a listen to the effervescent 'Cruel City' below.
The last time I heard AUGUSTINES, they had more of a rousing Mumford & Sons vibe - which many will consider as detrimental but I actually quite liked it - and while 'Cruel City' motors along in an uplifting nature, there's a rather different undercurrent. African rhythms pulsate throughout giving the band new life, accompanied by infectious vocal hooks. I don't know what some of the lyrics are, let alone what they mean, but I'm going to singalong anyway.
