Liverpool band Ninetails are Ed Black, Jordan Balaber, Phil Morris and Jake King, and we featured the excellent video to their song 'Rawdon Fever' recently. They are back here because their first London gig is tonight at the Bull and Gate in Kentish Town, ahead of their debut EP, 'Slept And Did Not Sleep', out on December 10th. Listen in full below.
The EP is an angular, dreamy affair with a unique sense of melody that makes it stand out from the crowd. It rather defies comparison but it has its roots in old school prog like Hatfield and the North and modern British mystic electronica like Belbury Poly. Then they play pop tunes too – with a Mystery Jets tang. We like their eclecticism – and that applies to the videos too, such as on the new video to EP opener 'Maybe We'.
It couldn’t be more different to the aforementioned 'Rawdon Fever' video but it’s entrancing all the same. A band with a difference can just go places with the right breaks and we wouldn’t be surprised if Ninetails took off – although we wouldn’t care to guess where they might land.
