Eden Ley music

Eden Ley is a singer-songwriter from London. Dime a dozen, you may cry. But no, there is something special here, even though his newest project is less than a week old. Listen to the sublime 'Daughter' below, along with a cover of the Everly Brothers' 'All I Have To Do Is Dream'.

You may recognise Eden Ley under his former performing name of Jamie, a past somewhat shrouded with in this new project, yet with strong enough hints left to not prove irksome. Having not been particularly familiar with Ley's previous work, I cannot make too much of a comparison with his latest efforts - yet 'Daughter' could well be the best thing he's ever done.

A beautiful piano-based ode to a former companion, emboldened by solemn vocals and soaring strings. Killing Moon Limited, who were onto Mr Ley within a flash, suggest hints of Jeff Buckley, Johnny Cash and Jamie N Commons. I'm thinking of Elton John for some reason.

I suspect that the lyrics of 'Daughter' are about Ley's former collaborator Elena Tonra but that almost seems too obvious. Either way, in this case, I'd probably rather not know. What I would like to know, however, is the identity of the backing vocalist on 'All I Have To Do Is Dream'....
