Louisa Rose Allen first came into prominence via her Loui Rose persona, which made waves across the blogosphere during 2011. We'd been holding back posting about her but today, in her new guise as Foxes, she's signed a major label record deal with Sony. So I figure now's probably as good a time as any to talk about her synth-pop anthems.
Foxes comprises Loui and guitarist/co-writer Sam Dixon, a set-up akin to the likes of La Roux and Daughter. Indeed, her past demos shared many a similarity to the latter with a heartfelt acoustic sound. No longer though as we see from January's debut Foxes single, which came out on the home of the hits, Neon Gold.
A-side 'Youth' is built around Louisa's strong vocals, emboldened by majestic widescreen pop production, worthy of The Sound Of Arrows. The b-side, 'Home', goes back to the roots of her previous guise albeit with a slow-burning, night pop twist. A contrasting mix but one which suggests that Foxes won't be struggling for top material when the debut album eventually drops.
