If you're like me then Valentine's Day is generally best avoided for a multitude of reasons - mostly related to girls. But I was far from the only one not to care much for the day, as Huw Stephens threw another one of his popular showcases at The Social in London. Northumberland's finest hurtled through their set of spritely tunes, dropping the likes of excellent previous single 'Koala', the thrilling 'Broken Record' and forthcoming single, 'Red Light' - which you can listen to via the video below. The latter track is coming out on The Calico Print, who are giving away 'Lucky Soldier' for free.
Elements of the off-kilter pop of Field Music combine with the more jumpy style of The Futureheads creating something a bit fun and a bit ridiculous. Embodying their live experience one might even say. Certainly, I've never seen a man play a triangle with such infectious enthusiasm. Hopefully it'll rub off on more people in 2012.
