Words: Saam Das
As much as I really like Norway's Team Me, naming a song 'With My Hands Covering Both Of My Eyes I Am Too Scared To Have A Look At You Now' is so ludicrously annoying that I may well have not written about the track on principle alone. Yet it is so brilliant that it deserves all the chat it gets. Download it below, a preview to their debut album 'To The Treetops!, which comes out early next year.
I first wrote about the band back in March, in a Surfacing feature, commenting on their grandiose pop with its folky undercurrent. They impressed me equally upon seeing them live at The Great Escape festival and the new track is perhaps the best thing I've heard from them thus far. Even better than the excellent 'Dear Sister'.
'With My Hands Covering Both Of My Eyes I Am Too Scared To Have A Look At You Now' is a rapturous burst of orchestral indie, epic and anthemic. A very bright sign for the upcoming album, which arrives in the UK on March 5th 2012.
