Folk has made a big comeback in the last few years with new artists such as Mumford & Sons, Laura Marling and Noah & The Whale each firmly establishing themselves in the mainstream. Perhaps London-based Urusen will follow in their footsteps. Download their recent double A-side single below for free.
Urusen have been going (somewhat under the radar) for many years now but lately things have been hotting up. The band have been working with Steve Osborn, who has produced the likes of Suede, Doves and New Order as well as being personally handpicked by Peter Gabriel for...some members club thing.
Of the double A-sided single, it was the oddly named 'A Once Was Tramp And Tree' that particularly appeals - although the melodrama of 'The Islander' was not without intrigue. But it's the charm and warmth of the former that's the triumph here. A spell-binding triumph. Download both sides of the single for free below, and/or purchase on 7" vinyl at Big Cartel.
