By accident/not by design, these trailer catch ups have become a monthly event. April's round up looked at 'Super', 'Fight For Your Right Revisited' and 'Warrior' amongst others. Since then, we've had a couple of epic trailers in the form of 'X-Men: First Class' and 'Transformers: Dark Of The Moon'. This month, we look at screen returns for Tintin and The Muppets, and more below.
'The Adventures Of Tintin' (UK: 26 Oct // US: 23 Dec)
I'm a big fan of the Tintin "graphic novels" and with messrs Joe Cornish, Steven Moffat and Edgar Wright writing this feature, along with Steven Spielberg directing, I guess I should be more hyped than I am. I think I'm struggling with the mo-cap and with only teaser footage to go on, I'm yet to be won over.
'The Muppets' (US: 23 Nov // UK: 17 Feb '12)
Now unlike 'The Adventures Of Tintin', the teaser trailer to this film has been counting down the days till it comes out. A crafty bait and switch reveals that the Jason Segal and Amy Adams starring 'Green With Envy' isn't the romantic drama that it set out to be....oh no, it's actually the new Muppets film. I would woop in delight except we're only getting the film in NINE months time. Boo-urns.
'The Trip' (US: 10 June)
In the UK, we've already had a six episode, three hour long TV series of Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan travelling around the UK reviewing restaurants, doing impressions and generally getting on each others nerves. Read Paul's reviews here, complete with clips. America gets an abridged version that cuts the flab and consequently might be even better.
'Immortals' (UK & US: 11 Nov)
Tarsem Singh is well known for his visual style of direction and 'Immortals' appears to continue that celebrated tradition. I suppose the only worry is that this falls into '300'-rip off territory. Check out the Tarsem Singh-influenced video from Woodkid too.
'The Beaver' (US: 20 May // UK: 17 June)
Mel Gibson might be a massive twat but this Jodie Foster-directed film looks promising. There's a sense of art imitating life as Gibson's character seeks redemption but really, it's all about the beaver puppet. Plus, it's nice to hear Frightened Rabbit on a Hollywood trailer.
'Kill Keith' (UK & US: TBC)
I've enjoyed 'Psychoville' and this Keith Chegwin-centric feature seems to share a penchant for cameos, comedy and horror. "'Saw' meets 'Richard & Judy'" is an inspired tagline. Multi-point bonus for involving one of my favourite upcoming British actresses, Susannah Fielding.
OTHER PROMINENT TRAILERS:
'Green Lantern' - I'm still on the fence with the forthcoming 'Green Lantern' movie - Ryan Reynolds's shitty CG mask is still annoying me immensely but this trailer gives us a better idea of the vast scope of the film.
'Transformers: Dark Of The Moon' - Still looks like absolutely insane, balls-to-the-wall action but that's mainly because we've seen most of the footage in this new trailer already.
'Cars 2' - I've always found 'Cars' the least interesting of the Pixar films but this seems to be really taking the biscuit. It might as well scream "USA! USA! USA!" through the whole trailer.
'Real Steel' - Unfortunately going in a completely different direction to the Richard Matheson original story but if you like fighting robots and Hugh Jackman then this could be for you.
