Some of you may be aware that Quentin Tarantino is a master of homage. His films frequently reference several obscure (from an ethnocentric viewpoint anyway) films, beginning with his debut feature Reservoir Dogs, which is hugely indebted to a Hong Kong heist thriller, 'City On Fire', perhaps even to the point of plagiarism?
Unfortunately, at the time Tarantino vociferously denied all accusations of "borrowing", even claiming that he would look forward to seeing the Hong Kong film. Extremely poor form, Quentin. Mike White called him out at the time and continues to do so, with the comparison video below.
Thankfully, these days Mr Tarantino is more forthcoming with his references and 'Reservoir Dogs' remains a visceral classic.
