I'm not sure I've mentioned on the blog that I was invited to be one of the judges for this year's Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition. During February, I was sent along 160 songs from 160 bands to whittle down to three to send through to the next stage of the competition. Those three acts were part of the longlist published earlier in the month.
We'll profile them in further detail soon but I chose Abe, Bear Response Team and Surfacing alumnus (alumni?) Boy Mandeville. Check out a track each of theirs below. Unfortunately, none of those three made the final eight strong shortlist.
However, there were plenty of FG alumni on the longlist: My First Tooth, Films Of Colour, Blood Oranges, Run Toto Run, Evryone Patterns, Napoleon IIIrd, Larsen B, Revere, Munch Munch have all appeared on the site at some point or another.
Of those, only My First Tooth made the shortlist sadly, along with Emily And The Wood, J Treole, Louise And The Pins, My Tiger My Timing, Treetop Flyers, Tristram and Twin Brother. Listen to a track from them each on Soundcloud. Some of those acts might feature more heavily on FG in future but for now, I'm backing My First Tooth for the win.
