Director: Robert Rodriguez
Cast: Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Benicio del Toro, Jessica Alba
SYNOPSIS: "Adaptation of Frank Miller's graphic novel. A collection of interweaving stories all based in the corrupt, crime infested hell-hole that is Basin City. Heavily influenced by film-noir, the main storylines concern a hulking brute called Marv, who is seeking the murderer of a beautiful woman who was killed while asleep in bed with him, a photographer called Dwight who is callously used and seeks revenge, and a soon-to-be-retiring policeman called Hartigan." I'm not sure how much explanation one of the most popular films of the past decade needs. Not very much, I'd surmise. In adapting Frank Miller's graphic novel, Robert Rodriguez delivered a stunning and visually arresting film noir and backed it up with an ensemble cast of suitably high calibre - Rutger Hauer, Elijah Wood and the sadly departed Brittany Murphy being just some of the names on offer. Not only that, its story has propelled 'Sin City' to #100 in the (audience-voted) IMDB Top 250 films of all time. Simply put, a must see.
