Today, we have the pleasure of premiering the soaring 'Jump' from London-based solo artist Anna Zed's forthcoming self-titled EP, dropping June 10th on Animal Farm. Listen to the track, with its nods to heavy hitters such as Kate Bush and Joni Mitchell, below.
Anna was raised in Athens to a Greek father and English mother, and is now based in London, following a stint in New York for her studies. 'Jump' feels like it somewhat reflects her geographical journey - with its quiet acoustic start, that soon builds into something settled and increasingly confident.
It's the chorus that particularly rouses spirits as Anna roars "you give me wings to fly away", in a similarly emotive manner to that which has seen Florence & The Machine achieve such popularity. Anna will do incredibly well to arrive at anywhere near that level of success, but 'Jump' suggests that she may well be capable.
