There's something deeply nostalgic and elegant about Chris Cookson's debut solo track 'Pillow Talk' - qualities that we don't usually associate with new artists, yet ones which work perfectly for Cookson. He's also just come under the wing of Laissez Faire Club, who have worked with plenty of strong acts in the past few years. Which bodes well, one would say. Judge for yourself below.
It's something of a shame that Cookson's latest output is likely to come at the cost of his alt-folk Mapstone outfit, who showed promise when emerging earlier in the year. 'Pillow Talk' can be considered sufficient consolation however, imbibed with Cookson's soulful vocals amid sweeping orchestral elements - a caressing combination for the ears.
