During 2012, To Kill A King's Ralph Pelleymounter invited several of his musical pals to play mini-sessions on the balcony of his high-rise flat. Twenty sessions later and the collection was released on Bandcamp, in aid of Great Ormond Street children's hospital. Listen to my favourite of the offerings, 'Choices', featuring the likes of Emily Wood, BASTILLE and We Were Evergreen.
I had the fortune of seeing To Kill A King and members of BASTILLE and We Were Evergreen perform 'Choices' live when I saw the band at Cargo late last year. But the Ralph's Balcony version is extra special - featuring other acts like Professor Penguin and Youth Imperial, and having a video basked in the summer sunshine.
There are some other terrific songs on the album - Maud In Cahoots and Ralph taking on 'Fictional State', with bittersweet strings, being a particularly striking example. Considering there's 19 tracks on the album, I'm pretty convinced that there'll be something you'll enjoy.
Purchase the album digitally at Bandcamp. To Kill A King release their debut album 'Cannibals With Cutlery' in February.
