Words: Saam Das
It seems a heck of a long time since The Joy Formidable first burst onto the scene. For two of the Welsh trio, Ritzy Bryan and Rhydian Dafydd, the journey dates back to 2003 and former bands Tricky Nixon and Sidecar Kisses. Their latest track 'Wolf's Law' may just be the moment they move firmly into the mainstream, a Biffy Clyro-esque transition.
The shoegazing dream pop of their early days appears long gone, 'Wolf's Law' embracing their more recent stadium-esque aspirations. Despite starting off in a rather tepid manner, the track explodes by the mid-point of 'Wolf's Law' continuing on in an almost post-rock influenced fashion before fading out all too soon.
