For a while, it very much looked like Bloc Party were finished. And yet, 2012 will see the release of the band's fourth studio album, the imaginatively titled 'Four'. The first full track from the record was premiered on BBC Radio 1 recently but now we have a video for 'Octopus', which you can watch below.
Abandoning the more electronic based approaches that have characterised their latter album(s), returning to an angular art-pop-esque basis reminiscent of the band's pre-'Silent Alarm' day. It's a jolt to the senses, not necessarily immediately enjoyable - albeit instantly intriguing.
There are a couple of iffy moments, notably the bizarrely tacked on intro and the somewhat anachronistic guitar shredding better suited to a Muse track. Aside from that, it's an exciting start to our 'Four' experience, with the album dropping in just over a month - on August 20th.
